Australia is one of the world's strictest countries for pet imports. From the UK, dogs must pass a rabies titer test, obtain an import permit, and complete mandatory quarantine — start planning 7–8 months ahead.

Destination requirements

1. ISO microchip — implanted before all vaccinations.
2. Rabies vaccination — required and must be valid.
3. Rabies titer test (RNATT) — ≥0.5 IU/mL; blood drawn at least 180 days before arrival.
4. Import permit from DAFF — apply as early as possible (allow 6+ months).
5. Parasite treatments — Brucella, Leishmania, heartworm, and tapeworm treatments per DAFF schedule.
6. Tapeworm treatment — 1–5 days before departure, certified by a vet.
7. Minimum 10 days quarantine at the ACAQ facility in Melbourne upon arrival.
